walkah: Using Drupal or Look, Ma, I'm on Amazon!

Using Drupal or Look, Ma, I'm on Amazon!

Using DrupalIn my usual heard-it-hear-last style... I was out to dinner this week with my friend, Phillip, who was apparently unaware that Lullabot had written a book(?!?) and I was one of the authors.

Well, for most of last year (plus) most of us over at lullabot spent sleepless nights putting together Using Drupal. It went to press in early December, and is indeed on amazon and even on shelves.

I'm personally pretty proud of the book. It's the first Drupal book by O'Reilly and the first to take a comprehensive look at building a "real" Drupal site with heavy emphasis on CCK, Views and the rest of drupal contrib.

I have to say, too, that O'Reilly was a lot of fun to work with. There's a reason they have a reputation for having the top tech books. If you missed it, @eaton and I did a live webcast with O'Reilly which was their biggest ever. Kool-aid for everyone!

If you don't have a copy yet, what's wrong with you? ;-)

Ha! Thanks for outing me as being "so out of touch it hurts!" :-P

Seriously though: congrats. This is awesome. I'm going to have to order a copy before I head south. Or, better yet, finally sign-up for that Safari Library thing that I've been meaning to do for months now. :-)

Phillip.

P.S. How do I get a signed copy?

Awesome!

Congrats on the book! I'll be sure to pick it up when I see it on the shelves.

Best Drupal book for site builders

January 9, 2009 - 11:00am

We have the book at Zivtech and often comment on how great it is. I would say this is the best resource for new Drupal site builders, the equivalent of the Drupal Pro Development book in usefulness.

Nice one J!

Good stuff; will pick up a copy to check out this weekend - no doubt many a drupal developer will love being able to send their clients to pick this one up :)

I've been building Drupal sites for two years and I learned new tips (new to me) in every chapter.

It's Christmas again!

January 9, 2009 - 2:49pm

Hey James,

Congrats and thank you for this great book. I just got my copy today.

I pre-ordered back in December, but when it was time to ship Dec 16th amazon.ca was out of stock... but I got it today and it's Christmas all over again. I might just take the rest of the day off and enjoy this book at starbucks.

Hey maybe next time I see you at the Toronto group meetup I'll get you to sign it for me :-)

Hey say thanks to all the other Lullaguys/girls for me!

Pierre

Although I've yet to see them in the wild, it's certainly on my shelves (when it's not being read by my young Drupal apprentices) – thank you for taking the time to write this :)

Are you going to follow @eaton's lead and give the Toronto Public Library a copy?

The book is terrific - congrats to you and all of your fellow co-authors! I just saw one on the shelves at the Borders store in San Rafael. We ordered several more copies for staff folks to use since they covet my autographed first edition, sure to be a collectors item ;-)

cheers!

"If you don't have a copy yet, what's wrong with you?"

Still waiting for mine. :) Got an email that I was getting a free copy, which is totally cool, but no ETA. :(

I don't suppose you have any idea on that?
